Tony Tilly
President, Fleming College
Dr. Tony Tilly is an educator and administrator with extensive background in Ontario’s colleges. In 2004, Dr. Tilly was appointed as President of Fleming College. Fleming serves over 5,000 students in Peterborough, the City of Kawartha Lakes (Lindsay), Haliburton and Cobourg.
President Tilly began his career in the classroom. He subsequently held a number of leadership positions at Seneca College, as Dean, Centre for Educational Effectiveness; Dean, Continuing Education; and Vice-President Academic. During his time at Seneca, Dr. Tilly led the academic aspect of partnership development with York University, leading to the creation of the Seneca@York Campus.
Following his career at Seneca, Dr. Tilly worked as a consultant on behalf of provincial ministries and associations and a number of Ontario colleges. Dr. Tilly also worked internationally in the Philippines, the Middle East, and with partner colleges in the United Kingdom and Australia.
At Fleming, Tony is leading the implementation of a five year (2005 to 2010) strategic plan that focuses on excellence in student learning, superior services, environmental issues and sustainability, enrolment growth, community success and human resources. Provincial, Dr. Tilly is Vice-Chair of the colleges’ Committee of Presidents and Co-Chair of the MTCU/Colleges Ontario Policy and Funding Committee.
Tony Tilly holds a Ph.D. from York University, having completed his doctorate in English.
