School of General Arts and Sciences
Our School is all about opportunities. Maybe you didn’t take high school too seriously and are now regretting that decision. Or perhaps you just discovered your dream career, but you are missing some of the courses required for admission to the college or university program that will get you on your way. No matter what your educational background, or where you are starting from, we can help to get you where you want to be. We’re all about new directions and new opportunities. You have choices and we will help you to explore them.
The Academic Upgrading program provides a pathway for students to obtain their Grade 12 Equivalency, pre-requisites required to apply to a college program.
General Arts and Science preparatory programs such as College Health Science enable students to acquire the necessary background to go on to further study in college health care diploma programs, while Preparatory Health Sciences prepares students to apply for entry to the Trent-Fleming B.Sc.Nursing degree.
The unique University Transfer program, designed in collaboration with Trent University, allows students to develop the skills needed to determine a focus for future studies, while earning university course credits.
Successful program graduates of the Fleming program earn four of the five credits required for first year of Trent’s B.A. or B.Sc. - Psychology degree.

University Transfer program finding success
Philosophy and English Literature are not the most typical of college credits.
However, these two courses are part of Fleming's two-semester General Arts and Science - University Transfer program that - now in its fourth year - is finding greater and greater success launching students from the certificate program to university.
